Duties
The Geomatic's Technician will provide geomatics technical services in the manipulation, analysis, integration, and presentation of geospatial and non-geospatial data to technical and specialized staff of the field unit. This includes some scientific analysis and basic cartography using GIS (ESRI ArcGIS) and data management software (Access, and SQL Server).
As well as :
- Maintains field unit data and databases, geospatial and non-geospatial information in support of management activities and local implementation of national systems that use geomatics.
- Develops and manages web maps and apps on an ArcGIS Enterprise portal, ArcGIS Online and/or Field Maps and Survey123.
- Acquisition of bathymetric data in the field, including in the backcountry
Work environment
Created in 1970 and covering 536 km2, the park helps preserve a natural area representative of the Precambrian region of the St. Lawrence River and the Great Lakes.
During the summer, visitors can carry out many different activities: swimming, cycling, canoing and kayaking, camping, hiking, self-guided interpretive experiences, fishing, etc. In the fall, which is increasingly popular for its splendid colours, visitors mainly take advantage of the hiking trails and the parkway. It’s also a great time for canoing, biking on forest trails and observing wildlife. In winter, the park is known for its quality cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and Nordic walking trails. Depending on the season, there are a variety of accommodation options: rustic canoe camping in the backcountry, four season oTENTik ready-to-camp tents, heritage lodges on the Wabenaki-Andrew estate and serviced or unserviced campsites.

This process will be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic requirements in same or other parts of the country.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
* EDUCATION *
Minimum 2 years post secondary education including geomatics courses:
- Graduation with a specialization in geomatics, geography or related discipline preferred.
- Or a diploma or certificate in geomatics or related discipline.
- Or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
* EXPERIENCE *
- Experience acquiring, storing, processing, analyzing and disseminating scientific and geospatial data in a variety of formats.
- Experience using geographic information system (GIS) software such as ArcGIS, GPS units, Mobile data collection, as well as database programs. (e.g., Microsoft Access, web-based database, SQL server) for a variety of users.
- Experience providing services to multidisciplinary teams to design, build and implement solutions for data management and collection
- Experience using technical equipment in the field, such as GPS devices, RTK system, total station, echo sounder, etc.

- Experience working with ecological/environmental, asset, and municipal (local government) GIS data.
- Experience working with drones for collecting air photos and processing drone imagery.
- Experience building custom tools/scripts within ArcGIS
- Experience in handling, processing, recording and managing remotely sensed data, such as satellite imagery and LIDAR data.
* KNOWLEDGE * (asset)
- Knowledge of general concepts of ecosystem conservation, landscape ecology and species at risk, asset management and municipal GIS.

- Knowledge of geomatics methodologies, systems, standards and tools including ESRI Enterprise GIS and the ESRI suite of GIS software, applications, and online mapping tools;
- Knowledge of technical trends and developments with regards to geographic information systems (GIS)

- Ability to effectively acquire, store, process, analyze and communicate scientific and geospatial data.
- Ability to tackle/resolve technical questions/issues.
- Ability to communicate orally, graphically and in writing in an effective manner and to prepare technical presentations for various audiences.
- Ability to prioritize, organize work and implement multiple projects.

- Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required;
- Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation
