Duties
Supervises a team providing skilled mechanical maintenance, repair and modification of heavy duty, medium duty and light duty vehicles and on and off road equipment along with small marine engines and specialized light duty equipment. Will be responsible for some financial resources, budgeting, and overall fleet management. Successful candidates will need to become familiar with the collective agreement and addressing employee concerns.

Intent of the process
The immediate need is to fill an indeterminate position in Lake Louise, AB, however, the results of this process may be used to staff similar term or indeterminate positions throughout the Highway Operations Unit.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Heavy Equipment Technician Certified Journeyperson
EXPERIENCE
EX1: Experience in the supervision and delivery of minor and major servicing and repairs to a variety of diesel and gasoline powered motor vehicles.
EX2: Experience in the supervision of employees involved in garage operations.
EX3: Experience in the management of financial resources and contracting for services.
EX4: Experience with garage work order management and inventory systems.
EX5: Experience working with fleet management systems and practices for a National Safety Code Transportation operation with a Federal/Interprovincial operating status.

K1: Knowledge of safety regulations and safe work practices common to garage operations
K2: Knowledge of preventative maintenance and troubleshooting techniques and practices
ABILITIES
A1: Able to schedule and assign work, set standards and priorities, assess staff performance, and document and implement corrective measures for staff.
A2: Able to use computers to input data into the fleet management system, produce work orders and reports, and to maintain inventory.
A3: Able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
A4: Able to lead daily hazard assessment meetings and bi weekly safety meetings.

Asset Occupational Certification:
A valid class 1 or 3 driver's license with air brake endorsement
Journeyman Certificate in Heavy Duty On Road Mechanics or Dual Ticketed Mechanics/Welders
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Willingness to travel/or work in a variety weather conditions and terrain for extended periods of time
• Willingness to wear identifier clothing, safety equipment and personal protective equipment as required
• Willingness to work shift work, weekends, overtime and statutory holidays, provincial/territorial holidays and on call back or standby duty
• Willingness to obtain/maintain CVIP licence
