ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in operating and performing front line maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment such as motors, generators, power tools, and boats.

Experience in maintaining grounds and buildings.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working in isolated or semi-isolated locations.

Experience working in a marine environment

Work Environment

Lightkeepers on British Columbia's West Coast work in 27 locations. Some of the light stations are very remote, and are served by Coast Guard helicopter and CCG vessels only.

For some stations, there is only one guaranteed reprovision per month. Lightkeepers must remain on the light station for the full period of employment, which can be up to one year with the exception of periods of vacation leave, or for medical emergencies. The majority of Lightstations are staffed with a Principal and an Assistant Lightkeeper at all times. Crown owned accommodations are provided.

Challenge

Lightkeepers provide weather reports and sea states for AES (Atmospheric Environment Service).

In addition, Lightkeepers maintain the lightstation assets by performing maintenance on buildings, equipment and grounds.
