Work environment

Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

Intent of the process

This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic profiles in same or other parts of the country.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)


ED: Graduation with a degree in architecture from a recognized University and Certification as a Professional Architect in Canada OR graduation with a degree from a recognized University in Engineering with a specialty relevant to the duties of the position and certification as a professional engineering in Canada.

Degree equivalency

Certification as a Professional Engineer or Architect in Canada.


EX1: Recent and significant* experience in planning, managing and successfully delivering complex infrastructure or building projects;
EX2: Recent and significant* experience in coordinating and reviewing the development of design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates;
EX3: Recent and significant* experience in consulting with, and building consensus among, internal and external stakeholders.

*Recent and significant experience implies at least five (5) years of experience within the last ten (10) years, with that experience being within Canada.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)


AEX1: Recent and significant* experience in implementing energy efficiency and greening strategies into project designs .

A1: Ability to manage a portfolio of multiple and multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects of varying complexity;
A2: Ability to assess complex information and situations, to seek out and identify project risks and to develop and implement mitigation strategies, recommendations and solutions;
A3: Ability to manage human resources and to supervise a team of project managers;
A4: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

K2: Knowledge of current design and construction standards, methodologies and best practices, and national codes.

Willingness to travel and/or work in a variety of weather conditions and terrain for extended periods of time;
Willingness to travel over roads closed to the general public and to work in and around construction sites;
