Duties

As program manager, you will be responsible for planning, managing, implementing, and reporting on program initiatives to meet Parks Canada Agency’s portfolio objectives and advance key strategic initiatives such as portfolio renewal, greening, accessibility, etc. You will be responsible to provide advice, develop and contribute to the development of sustainable national real property portfolio strategies.

Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

Intent of the process

One (1) indeterminate position located in Gatineau (Quebec).

Possibility of hybrid work from one of the national hub: Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Cornwall, Ottawa, Gatineau, Québec, or Halifax, with approval of the Delegated Manager.

EDUCATION

Graduation with a degree for a recognized post-secondary institution in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

OR

Certification as a professional engineer in Canada.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

EX1: Experience analyzing, planning, managing and executing programs and maintenance activities for a medium to large portfolio composed of linear infrastructure and built assets.
EX2: Experience providing thoughtful advice and recommendations to management on complex** issues.
EX3: Experience in creating, measuring, maintaining and reporting on performance indicators and identifying portfolio risks and tendencies.
EX4: Experience managing built assets over their entire lifecycle, including identifying and raising capital investment proposals and maintenance programs.
EX5: Experience managing financial resources, which may include managing a budget, allocation of financial resources, financial planning, forecasting and reporting.

**Complex is defined as issues with at least two (2) of the following characteristics: multidimensional, sensitive, confidential, affecting many stakeholders, or precedent setting.

ASSET EXPERIENCE

AE1: Experience managing staff, including salary forecasting and performance management.
AE2: Experience in pipelining large, complex data structures.
AE3: Experience in deploying data visualizations into BI solutions (monitoring and reporting).
AE4: Experience with an array of real property management software, such as Maximo, VFA, Manager+, Achibus, Data Warehouse, etc, including system selection, planning, implementation and/or maintenance.
