Duties
Deliver on programs of responsibility that reflect the Agency’s vision and mandate for protection in accordance with legal obligations, Agency policies and guidelines, including: managing the development, delivery, and integration of a national marine conservation area ecosystem-based management program (including research and monitoring in a freshwater marine environment); managing the development and delivery of a cross-functional visitor-risk management approach for visitor activities;
Accountability for cultural resource management in marine conservation areas; and supporting development of field unit communication strategies and products.
Program and operational issues and challenges are generally characterized by significant complexity and scope.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
EDUCATION
Graduation from a recognized university with a degree in natural resource management or natural sciences or an acceptable combination of a University degree in another discipline, training and experience. Proof of education to be submitted with your application.
EXPERIENCE
• Recent and relevant experience *** planning, managing and implementing a resource conservation program
• Recent and relevant experience *** building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Recent and relevant experience *** providing leadership to a multidisciplinary team, including supervision, management and development of staff
• Recent and relevant experience *** managing financial resources
*** Recent experience is normally defined as acquired within approximately the past five (5) years. Relevant experience is normally gained over at least 2 years.

ASSET EXPERIENCE
• Experience leading natural & cultural resource management programs in a freshwater/marine environment
• Experience cooperatively developing ecologically sustainable programs with Indigenous Communities

KNOWLEDGE
• Knowledge of Parks Canada’s vision, mandate and corporate objectives especially as they relate to national marine conservation areas
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of natural and cultural resource management and protection, ecological sustainable use, conservation biology, and public participation
• Knowledge of major issues, management challenges and/or partnership opportunities related to natural resource conservation and visitor safety in marine protected areas
• Understanding of how traditional knowledge is applied in natural and cultural resource management
ABILITIES
• Ability to build and manage a conservation-oriented program
• Ability to lead, motivate and develop teams of professional and technical staff, in a cross-functional environment
• Ability to manage financial resources, including procurement
• Ability to analyse and critically assess management issues concerning natural and cultural resources and work with senior managers, Indigenous partners and others to effect good decisions that advance Parks Canada’s mandate
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Ability to lead and work effectively within committees and teams involving a range of government and non-government personnel, stakeholders and Indigenous groups
