Duties

The Water/Wastewater Operations Supervisor/Lead position is responsible for conducting operations and facility maintenance duties at the water and wastewater facilities located in Lake Louise, AB and Field, BC

Other duties/ responsiblities of this position include (but are not limited to):
• Supervising and overseeing water/wastewater operations, including maintenance and repair;
• Leading data monitoring and analysis/interpretation, technical inspections, equipment and instrumentation calibrations and adjustments, and corrective measures;
• Consulting on/discussing technical plans and strategies for corrective actions;
• Preparing inputs for annual operating and capital plans and budgets; developing work plans and operational schedules;
• Responding to client/stakeholder enquiries/complaints and advising on operations and activities (e.g. service interruptions);
• Overseeing minor project work and contracted services;
• Developing/modifying standard operating procedures for water/wastewater treatment equipment and processes.

Intent of the process

The results of this process will be used to fill an indeterminate vacancy and may be used in the future to fill permanent or temporary vacancies that may arise at the EG-04 in the Lake Louise, Yoho & Kootenay Field Unit, in various locations, with full or part-time hours for various tenures, such as: Seasonal Indeterminate, Term, Acting Assignment or Assignment at level, depending on status of the selected candidate.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education
• Graduation from an accredited Water and Wastewater Technician Program or an acceptable combination of education, training, certification and experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience
• A minimum of 5 years of experience working in the Water and Wastewater Treatment Industry;
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity in a water and wastewater utility, including responsibilities such as: supervision of staff, preparation and presentation of reports and plans (such as forecasts, work schedules etc.) and provision of advice/ recommendations to management and stakeholders.
• The use of various software applications, such as SCADA, Microsoft Word, Excel and Email applications.

*Preference may be given to candidates with relevant experience or applicable provincial certification in Water Distribution and/or Wastewater Treatment*

*Preference may be given to candidates who possess a Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement*

*Preference may be given to candidates who possess experience in advanced Wastewater Treatment systems

Operational Requirements
• Willingness to wear identifier clothing and safety equipment and follow safety procedures;
• Willingness to work in variable weather conditions;
• Willingness to complete First Aid Certification and CPR/AED;
• Willingness to obtain and maintain a Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air Brake Endorsement;
• Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays.

Conditions of employment

• Possession and maintenance of a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence;
• Candidate must be capable of working in/with water and wastewater systems and associated machinery.
